Parliamentary News – October 2010

This week I had the opportunity to talk on the Police Legislation Amendment Bill and state my support for changes that allow police to issue on the spot fines for public nuisance offences.  Too much of our police officers’ time is consumed by these minor offences and so the changes will allow them to focus on the more serious matters confronting our communities.  I was also able to implore the Minister to fast track the upgrade of the Maleny Police station.  I also spoke on the Manufactured Homes Amendment Bill, one of those Bills we’ve been waiting a long time for.  A full copy of my speech and all others that I made this week including on Education and Training and Caloundra South, can be viewed n the ‘About Andrew’ section of this website under speeches.
