LNP Team Listen to Hospital Concerns at Health Forum

A community health forum today revealed the urgent need for improvement to essential local health services.

LNP Candidates, Lisa France and Darren Grimwade, Federal Member for Longman Wyatt Roy, and State Member for Glass House Andrew Powell, today hosted a health forum to listen to residents’ concerns about the Caboolture Hospital.

Guest speakers Federal Shadow Minister for Health and Ageing Peter Dutton, and State Shadow Minister for Health Mark McArdle were on hand to provide facts about the Caboolture Hospital.

The forum revealed that a Caboolture Hospital Master Plan outlining upgrades for the hospital was yet to be released, despite being due for release in July last year, and a health hub promised in 2004 had also not been delivered.

Mr Powell emphasised that patients are the ones losing out with delays to improvements to local health care services.

“Patients are missing out on essential health services while they wait for the health hub to be built,” said Mr Powell.

Mr McArdle said that under Labor, health services have spiralled downwards.  “We need to listen to doctors, nurses and the local community if we are going to understand what the needs are,” he said.

Mrs France said residents should not have to put up with the sub-standard health care currently available.  “We live in a fast-growing region and the under-funding of the hospital will only get worse if it is not addressed,” she said.

Mr Roy called for immediate action taken to be taken to address health needs.

“We need health care solutions that work in partnership, not competition with local healthcare professionals,” Mr Roy said.

Mr Dutton said that a focus on patient care was needed.  “We need a health system where patients care is valued, where a dollar spent on the hospital is a dollar for patient care.”

“The Coalition’s plan would deliver control to local hospital boards and eliminate bureaucracy, enabling doctors to focus on patient care,” said Mr Dutton.
