Pavement rehabilitation work, which includes laying new asphalt, is due to commence on the D’Aguilar Highway between Old Gympie Road and Lord Lane on Monday 28 March, weather permitting. I welcome the re-commencement of these works, which were rain delayed in November 2010, as they will improve highway safety and efficiency. Motorists will need to be patient during the works program, which is expected to take until early August to complete, as lane closures will be required. I would like to warn motorists to take care in changed conditions and to follow the instruction of traffic controllers. To expedite this program, works will take place from 7am to 5pm seven days a week and asphalt laying will take place from 6pm to 6am.
