Repairs to Peachester Road – further update

Following the update I provided in my column in the Glasshouse Country News last month, I had many Peachester residents contact me to communicate their frustration that works to repair Peachester Road are not expected to start until sometime before Christmas.  I completely understand how frustrating this would be for residents and I thank you for your ongoing patience thus far.  The Department of Transport and Main Roads have advised that repairs to this road are part of flood recovery works which would go a long way to explaining the delays.  From all reports I have been given, the Main Roads’ crews have been working additional hours all over the state in an effort to get flood restoration projects completed.  There are actually quite a few main roads within the Glass House electorate that were similarly affected by the floods and they too still have lights in operation guiding traffic and one in particular is still completely closed.  After receiving feedback from so many residents, I wrote to the Minister for Main Roads asking that he reassess the priority of this project so that works can be undertaken as far away from the wet season as possible.  I will inform residents again once I have a reply from the Minister
