Andrew with ‘Indi’ the Koala (August 2012)

I stopped by Australia Zoo this week to announce new Government policy around the protection of koalas.  The Koala Habitat Program is part of a range of actions being taken by the Queensland Government to address the declining koala population in Queensland.  Up to $22.5 million will be invested between 2012 and 2015 to strategically acquire land in South East Queensland to:

•create new koala habitat
•increase the connectivity of South East Queensland’s mature koala habitat
•provide additional recreational opportunities for the community wherever possible
