Letter to the Editor – Sunshine Coast Daily – Friday 19 April 2013

Dear Editor,

“I refer to comments made by Kim Oxley (SCD 19 April) regarding the TransLink Bus review’s proposal that the Hinterland Connect service be discontinued.  My office has corresponded with Kim a number of times and I continue to work with her and other members of the community to find a good outcome.

“I have received much feedback from people who use this service over the past few months and I have conveyed this to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

“I am advised by the Minister and his Department that they recognise there is demand for a public transport service in the Hinterland but the low number of passengers means we have to identify a lower cost way to deliver the service if it is to continue.

“I assure residents of the Hinterland that I am committed to working with Cr Jenny McKay.  It is important that the Sunshine Coast Regional Council is involved as we work to find cost effective public transport solutions for the area.”
