Sunshine Coast residents will benefit from safety improvements on the intersection of Steve Irwin Way and the Bruce Highway northbound exit lane at Beerburrum.
Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, said the $3 million project, which will commence in the coming weeks, would improve safety for motorists exiting the Bruce Highway northbound to access the Steve Irwin Way.
“The works will realign the current Y-shaped intersection, create a merge lane and provide critical safety benefits for motorists,” Mr Powell said.
“This will enhance sight distance for merging vehicles.
“This project is another example of the State Government delivering better infrastructure and planning for the Sunshine Coast.
“I ask motorists to please drive to the changed conditions, including lane closures, traffic control devices and speed reductions.
“The project is due to be completed by mid-year.
“Any death on our road is a tragedy which is why we continue to invest in these important safety works,” Mr Powell said.
This work is part of the $82 million for Safer Roads Sooner projects this year, which address black spots on Queensland’s road network.
Works will be carried out during the day between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
