Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, is pleased to announce that Jackie Draper of Neurum has been selected as the 2014 Glass House Inspiring Woman. The awards are held to celebrate International Women’s Day and the theme of this year’s awards is Women of Generosity.
Mr Powell recently sought nominations from the community for Inspiring Women throughout the Glass House electorate. Community members nominated over 20 women who give generously of their time and serve others.
“I received many wonderful nominations so it was certainly hard to narrow it down to just one. All of the women nominated should rightly be recognised,” Mr Powell said.
“Jackie generously gives her time to the whole community including sponsoring Woodford State School awards and participating in the Woodford Agricultural Show Ball,” Mr Powell said.
Jackie has also established a local newspaper which promotes the Woodford region to the wider region through her coverage of community events and issues.
Jackie will be invited to attend a breakfast ceremony honouring the winners, chosen from all over Queensland, to be held in Parliament House on 7 March 2014.
“Jackie was nominated by many community members. Congratulations to her and the Woodford community she so generously and tirelessly serves,” Mr Powell concluded.
