Well it’s only taken 6 years but I’m pleased to say the Andrew Powell Celebrity XI were the victors by one run in last Saturday’s annual charity cricket match. There were plenty of laughs and a few injuries but it was all for a great cause. The highlight of the day was being able to present Chris Emery from the Lung Foundation with a cheque for $500 plus other sizeable donations from MDSRC and community members. This annual match is held as a tribute to the late Dr Peter Oliver who lost his own battle with lung cancer several years ago. Thanks to my fellow captain Simon Denver and the Maleny Maulers, Gail Denver and Greg Williams from the MDSRC and everyone else who contributed in some way to make this day such a success.
