Powell Media Release – Funding helps local community groups (28 January 2016)

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell has welcomed the recent announcement of funding that will be provided to several worthy sporting groups in the Glass House electorate.

Mr Powell reported that five clubs have shared in just under $30,000 through the Get Going Clubs program to help them with the purchase of necessary equipment and upgrades to their club facilities.

“There are so many areas of our community that are involved in sporting pursuits, so to find out that five of the groups based in Glass House will start the year with some funds, is really pleasing.

“Most of the recipients in Glass House are using the funds to purchase new equipment which will not only have a positive effect on their current members but also go a long way to attracting new membership.

“All of these community groups are run by volunteers and the application process is not an easy one to navigate so I congratulate those who have put in the effort and been successful this time around.

List of Glass House recipients for Get Going Clubs includes –

• Caboolture Dressage Group $7500
• Elimbah Junior Australian Football Club $3409
• Murrumba Endurance Riding Club Inc $3482
• Palmwoods Bowls Club Incorporated $7200
• Palmwoods Western Districts Junior Rugby League Football Club Inc $7500

The next round of Get Going Clubs opens on 1 July 2016.
