LNP Leaders tour Coast MP priority projects
The united LNP team of local MPs came together again yesterday to tour the top infrastructure priorities for the Sunshine Coast region and demonstrate what they are fighting for to make this region the best it can be.
Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell, has worked alongside his colleagues to show Leader of the Opposition, Tim Nicholls and Deputy Leader, Deb Frecklington firsthand the projects that each Member was making a priority.
“The Sunshine Coast MP’s have worked together to identify major projects across the Sunshine Coast that they are fighting for to ensure we continue to deliver for our communities,” Mr Powell said.
“The community have spoken and we are all listening and understand what we need to do to deliver for the Coast. From Beckmans Road upgrade in the North to the North Coast Rail Duplication, there are a range of projects that we have identified need our united effort to provide for the community.
The tour commenced on Tuesday 2 August with a visit to the Noosa electorate and continued with tours through all other five LNP-held state electorates on Wednesday 3 August.
“As a united team, this was an opportunity to show our leadership team and the Sunshine Coast that we need to deliver improvements to ensure we continue to enjoy better infrastructure, lifestyle and employment opportunities long into the future.
“In my own patch of Glass House, we desperately need funding for the North Coast Rail Duplication, not only to keep up with the commuters that use the rail network today, but to accommodate all of those that will demand this service as part of future growth on the Coast.
“The LNP took a commitment to the last election of over $500 million to recommence construction of the North Coast rail duplication from Beerburrum to Landsborough.
“The Palaszczuk Labor Government said they could build it without raising taxes, cutting services or leasing assets. All we’ve seen since is that they lied to the people of Queensland.”
“This tour really did highlight to Tim and Deb that the Coast MP’s are a strong team and that we are fully committed to working together to deliver the best outcomes for the Sunshine Coast.” Mr Powell concluded.
