Round five winners announced in Local Heroes Grants

Round five of Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes Grants have been announced and another three community groups and two individuals in Glass House have been presented with a cheque for $250.

Designed to provide a bit of a helping hand to community groups or individuals participating in local, state, national or international endeavours, Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes grants have proven very popular since the local Member announced this program in January 2016.

“During my years representing this very special community, I have become acutely aware of how vital community groups are to our region and how tough they do it financially.

“In the same way if I can make a contribution towards an individual pursuing sporting or academic ventures, then I am only too happy to oblige,” Mr Powell said.

Winners for round five:

Palmwoods Christmas Committee to publicise Palmwoods Green Bush Christmas

Maleny Rangers Football Club to purchase new training equipment for Mini Roos

Quilt Love Project Caboolture to purchase supplies to make quilts for the homeless

Todd McClure to assist with costs towards the Regional Academy for Softball

Dimity Bucciarelli towards costs associated with playing for Fire Football Club

“The best part of this grant program is that I have the opportunity to catch up with members from these community groups and personally congratulate them on their grant.

“They really are always so grateful to have been recognised in this way and are excited by what this small financial assistance can do for their club or their individual pursuits.”

The last round for 2016 will close on Monday 12 December.
