Round four winners announced in Local Heroes Grants

Round four of Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes Grants has been announced and this time four community groups, and one individual in Glass House have been presented with a cheque for $250.

Designed to provide a bit of a helping hand to community groups or individuals participating in local, state, national or international endeavours, Andrew Powell’s Local Heroes grants have proven very popular since the local Member announced this program in January 2016.

“During my years representing this very special community, I have become acutely aware of how vital community groups are to our region and how tough they do it financially.  If I can offer even a little bit of money towards their upkeep or to help purchase a new kitchen appliance or a new piece of equipment, then I am only too happy to oblige”.

“Similarly it is an honour to contribute to individuals who wish to participate in specific pursuits”.

The winners in round four included the Glasshouse Men’s Shed to purchase additional tools, Palmwoods Bowls Club to install child seat restraints in their bus, the Caboolture Classic & Vintage Speedway Association to assist with costs in holding a Quad Bike Education Day and the Caboolture Historical Village to purchase a weed sprayer.  Reuben Tidy received a grant to assist with the costs involved in competing in the National Taekwondo Championships (held in Bendigo, Victoria) where he picked up bronze in his division.

“The best part of this grant program is that I have the opportunity to catch up with members from these community groups and personally congratulate them on their grant.
The remaining rounds for 2016 are –

Round 5 – Monday 10 October
Round 6 – Monday 12 December
