The Crisafulli Government is delivering certainty for communities in the electorate of Glass House by getting on with the job of protecting a key section of the future Moreton Motorway corridor between Elimbah and Moodlu.
The Bruce Highway Western Alternative will provide a north-south transport corridor between Elimbah and Bald Hills, easing pressure on the Bruce Highway as South East Queensland continues to grow.
This follows the commitment by Premier David Crisafulli to ensure appropriate consultation and a review of Labor’s proposed corridor for this stage of the Motorway.
Now, the Government is providing clarity and certainty for the region’s future, developing an alignment that stays true to our commitment.
Corridor protection ensures land is preserved for future infrastructure, preventing inappropriate development and avoiding higher costs and greater impacts on communities down the track.
LNP Member for Glass House Andrew Powell said the Crisafulli Government was delivering for residents in the area, and fixing Labor’s failure to work with the community and keep up with growth.
“The Premier and I made a commitment before the last election Labor’s corridor – that left hundreds in the lurch – would be rejected, and I’m pleased that the outcome has brought a positive outcome to previously impacted locals.”
Mr Powell acknowledged the announcement would be bitter for a number of property owners and understood the mixed emotions some residents may be feeling.
“I know this still impacts locals, albeit significantly less than Labor’s disastrous routes. Please know that as your local member, I am here to support you through the gazettal process, answer questions, and work through this together.” Mr Powell added.
“I’ve always backed the Bruce Highway Western Alternative. It will play a critical role in strengthening the transport network by boosting capacity and reducing congestion as the region grows, while improving connectivity and access to jobs, education and essential services.”

The new corridor will be gazetted between the D’Aguilar Highway, Moodlu to Twin View Road, Elimbah.
