The weather has again dished it out to Queensland this summer with cyclones, storms and flooding rains.
While our thoughts and focus are rightly on Far North Queensland and the Gold Coast with power and road crews rushing to restore services and access, Member for Glass House Andrew Powell has taken the opportunity to remind the new Minister for Main Roads there is work still needed to repair roads damaged from similar events nearly two years ago.
Winning Groups Secure Vital Support for their Initiatives
Member for Glass House Andrew Powell has announced several deserving organisations and individuals have emerged victorious in securing much-needed funding and sponsorship for their respective causes through his latest round of Local Heroes grants.
Andrew Powell, Member for Glass House and John-Paul “JP” Langbroek, Shadow Minister for Communities, have recently visited Neighbourhood Centres in the Glass House electorate.
First up was the Mooloolah Valley Community Association Inc. who are not only completely self-funded, they have done so well through their op shop that they are able to help fund other not for profit groups from time to time.
“You might not know that they also provide money to the local school for the students of financi
Congratulations are in order for the Maleny RSL Sub-branch who have recently picked up $37,084.42 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Member for Glass House Andrew Powell caught up with the board to congratulate them on their massive win and have a chat about their plans for the future of the RSL.
“We’ve got grand plans, that’s for sure! The money is headed towards refitting the RSL bar, upgrading our water tanks and installing external speakers for ANZAC services,” said President Geo
The Palaszczuk Government’s extraordinary incompetence has been exposed with Estimates revealing an extra $3 billion of taxpayers’ money has been wasted.
This proves this third-term Labor government is losing control of spending in Queensland.
This money could have built two hospitals and employed thousands of nurses and doctors in the middle of a health crisis.
It is clear the Palaszczuk Government consistently chooses politics and secrecy over people and transparency.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, has asked a Question on Notice in Queensland Parliament of the Minister for Transport and Main Roads (TMR), regarding the prolonged closure of one lane at Kilcoy-Beerwah Road at Cedarton.
“Today in Parliament, I asked the Minister to provide a timeline for the reopening of two lanes of the Kilcoy-Beerwah Road at Cedarton following the closure of one lane nearly 12 months ago?” said Mr Powell.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell, has expressed significant concern that Mount Mee Road has been voted by the RACQ as Queensland’s fourth worst road.
More than 1,500 nominations were received from drivers in response to the RACQ’s survey, which asked drivers to pinpoint problem stretches of road in their community.
